A UNIVERSITY student from Solihull drowned on a family holiday in Turkey after swimming in the sea during a boat trip, an inquest heard.

Subhan Khan died after getting into difficulties in the Aegean coastal resort of Altinkum.

The inquest heard the 19-year-old business and commerce student was on holiday with family and friends when the tragedy unfolded in May this year.

He was taken to hospital in Altinkum but it is believed he was declared dead on arrival.

Tributes flooded in for Subhan following his death including from friend Megs Hegdekar who said: “I can’t believe it, still feel sick to my stomach re-reading our old conversations”

“Life is way too unpredictable and this definitely isn’t fair, please know there’s so much love and thoughts of you going round.”

Emma Brown, coroner for Birmingham and Solihull, recorded a verdict of misadventure.
