Meriden MP Saqib Bhatti urges residents to shop local

MERIDEN MP Saqib Bhatti has urged residents to support high streets and local businesses as the lockdown restrictions ease.

Last week, non-essential retailers throughout Solihull borough and nationwide started to re-open.

Mr Bhatti said: “Local businesses have gone to great lengths to make shopping as safe as possible with hand sanitisers at entrances and tills, contact free collection points, limited numbers allowed in the shop and enforcement of social distancing inside.

“The Prime Minister Boris Johnson called for people to ‘shop and shop with confidence but they should of course observe the rules on social distancing and do it as safely as possible’.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and our community. We will always need them and right now they need us.”

Until recently, Saqib was the President of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.
