INFLATABLES, bunting and beach balls were all in abundance at Birmingham and Solihull NHS Mental Health Foundation Trust’s as inpatients and staff came together for a special beach-themed event.
Taking place for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, each themed event celebrates how far patients have come in their recovery.
The beached-themed party took place in Ardenleigh’s sports hall, which was decorated with inflatables, a sand pit, beach balls and bunting.
Together with their loved ones, service users were also able to enjoy an afternoon full of music, garden games, mocktails and ice cream.
The women on the unit’s Citrine Ward made an invaluable contribution to the event, by helping to create themed decorations.
They also ran a stall of homemade bracelets and cards, which raised over £80 for the Trust charity, Caring Minds.
Alicia Boyce, occupational therapy apprentice at BSMHFT said: “The day was a huge success for our patients, their loved ones and our staff.
“It is so important to reflect on how far our patients have come and events like this really help to strengthen the bond between them and our staff.
“This was a huge team effort from everyone at Ardenleigh and I can’t wait for our next event.”
