THE Mayor of Solihull has met with the winning Street Tag community team, to present them with their certificates.

Street Tag is a free interactive app that encourages communities and schools to become more active by walking, cycling, scooting and rolling more.

Across Solihull, more than 100 teams took part in the community team competition, with Queen Bees taking the top prize and Shereena Delaney being awarded most improved player.

The next Street Tag competition begins on September 2, with certificates and prizes available for the winning teams as well as the most improved players.

The Mayor of Solihull, Coun Shahin Ashraf MBE, said: “I was delighted to meet the Queen Bees and Shereena last week and hear all about the Street Tag successes.

“Street Tag is a great way for people to get more active, going for walks, runs or bike rides in their local area.

“I’d really encourage people to sign up and get their friends and family involved too.

“I’m looking forward to hearing how everyone gets on in the next competition too – good luck to everyone taking part.”

Street Tag’s first season also included a school competition, with more than 2,500 students taking part across 34 schools, with Castle Bromwich Juniors and Sharman’s Cross Junior Schools topping the leaderboard.

Across the schools and community competitions, more than 212,000 miles were walked, run, cycled or scooted.
