A MAN who has dedicated the past eight years to raising money to grant extraordinary wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses is hoping to take more children to Lapland for the third year.

Matt Denning, of Matts Mission Children’s Charity, has taken to the streets of Solihull dressed as a superhero in a bid to raise £9,000 which will pay for four children fighting cancer to Lapland this Christmas.

He started fund-raising after his grandad was diagnosed with cancer.

The charity grants wishes to children fighting disabilities and life threatening illnesses.

The past two years they have taken sick children and their families to Disney Land and Lapland.

Matt said: “I often collect in Solihull at the Game store, the response from the public has been amazing, many often coming over to see me and say thank you and they often donate.

“So far £22,000 has been raised and I have stood for close to 2,000 hours now in costume as Robin from Batman and more recently Captain America.

“Two children that were taken to Lapland have since sadly passed away but the donations made it possible and I would like to thank them all.

“Another young lad became ill the morning of the trip and weeks later sadly passed away, I went over as Captain America to pay respects.

“Another child who was taken to Disney Land last year, her parents have recently been told shes terminally ill.”

The charity has paid for three sick children to be taken to Disney Land for a third year with funds raised at the charities annual princess hair donations in which 30 young children cut off eight or more inches of there long hair to make wigs for children fighting cancer.

The charity has also set up a sensory room and advice hub for children and their families to go to for advice and support at Bouncing Bears Daycare Nursery on School Road in Yardley Wood.
