CELEBRATIONS were in order as a Shirley care home resident celebrated her 104th birrthday.
Family and friends raised a toast to Mary Prior on March 16 at special party at St Georges Home.
Mary was born in Bordesley Green, as one of 13 children, and went to Cherry Wood School.
She met her husband while on holiday on the Isle Of Man and the pair married in Birmingham in 1939 and they had one son, John.
The couple rented a house for £1 a week in Berkeley Road and lived in the same house until she moved to the care home in 2016.
During the Second World War she worked as a Fire Watchat Bryant and Tucker Badge Factory Shirley and remembers the friendliness of everybody around her.
Over the years she also worked part time for LUCAS on Shaftmore Lane for 20 years.
Mary also has three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Mary said her secret to her long life is being happy and having a good social life.
