A MARSTON Green vicar has been welcomed back at the church in his birthplace.
The Reverend Tony Rindl was instituted to the parish of St Leonard’s Church – which had been without a permanent vicar for three years – by the Bishop of Birmingham, the Right Reverend Dr Michael Volland, at a service attended by nearly 200.
He was also inducted as Area Dean of Yardley and Solihull, thereby combining the two roles.
Rev Rindl has just celebrated 25 years in the ministry and prior to the move to Marston Green, spent 11 years as vicar of St Mary’s, Watford, as well as Area Dean of Watford.
His wife, Cath, is also ordained and is currently Assistant Curate in Harpenden who plans to move up to Birmingham in the New Year.
Rev. Rindl spent the first four years of his life in Yardley, before the family moved to Selly Oak.
He said: “I am thrilled to come back to the place of my birth and to the city whose history, tradition and culture I know well.
“I am looking forward to embarking on this dual role and the exciting opportunities they provide.
“I am also looking forward to life in the village and being part of the community.”
