Marie Curie's doors open ready to welcome anyone needing help with terminal illness

Solihull Editorial 27th Jan, 2024   0

THE DOORS at Solihull’s Marie Curie Hospice will be opened to welcome patients and loved ones living with a terminal illness.

The Marsh Lane site is set to welcome all to its Support and Wellbeing Hub on Wednesday 7 February from 1.30pm to 4.30pm and Thursday 8 February from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

The drop-in sessions at Marsh Lane will be open to anyone living with a terminal illness or caring for someone with a terminal illness who needs their support as well as health and social care professionals.

Hannah Nolan, community engagement manager at the hospice said: “Most people think a hospice is somewhere people go to die but we can offer so much more and are there to help people live well until the end.

“Our Support and Wellbeing Hub provides physical, emotional, and social support to people in the West Midlands community living with a terminal illness and their family and carers.

“Group leaders will be on hand to answer questions, provide information on how to refer people to join a group and it’s an opportunity for the community to visit the hospice and see if we can help.”

The Support and Wellbeing Hub is open to all and provides a free warm space for people to socialise and take part in optional activities.

It offers several groups including Daff Café for carers, patients, or family members, Men’s Shed for male patients, carers, and widowers to build new friendships, share and learn new skills and Saturday Social.
