POLICE have launched an investigation after a woman was pushed into a toilet cubicle at Solihull station by a man who ‘demanded sex.’

Detiectives from British Transport Police say a woman was assaulted in the ladies’ toilet on March 10.

They say she went to the toilets on Platform 1 between 12.20pm and 12.30pm, when a man followed her and pushed her from behind into a cubicle.

He grabbed her and demanded sex.

The woman fought back, and the man left the toilets when she threatened to call the police.

Police say they are looking for a suspect described as black, around 5ft 10″ and of athletic build.

He is believed to be in his mid-thirties, and was wearing a dark thigh-length jacket and a thin scarf.

The woman said his voice had a foreign accent.

BTP Detective Constable Tim Friend said: “This was a deeply concerning incident, and we are working tirelessly to find the person responsible.

“Thankfully incidents like this are extremely rare and passengers can expect to see a visible presence of officers at the station this week.

“I’d urgently ask anyone who may have been on platform one at this time on Tuesday 10th March or who may have noticed anyone matching this description in the station to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“You can do this by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 239 of 10/03/20. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
