A MAN has been jailed after he tried to attack a dog walker with a chainsaw in Olton.
The man was walking his two dogs in woodland near Gospel Lane and Brookvale Road, last May when one of his dogs was attacked by another dog.
This led to a verbal altercation, and Lewis Whitsey, who was nearby, then joined the altercation and went to assault the man whose dog had been attacked.
Whitsey left and then returned with a chainsaw and attempted to attack the man with it.
West Midlands Police said the chainsaw cut out just as he went to attack him, and the man managed to get away from the area.
Solihull CID team carried out an investigation and identified Whitsey, and he was arrested days later.
Whitsey, of Gospel Lane, Olton, pleaded guilty to wounding.
The 48-year-old was jailed for two years and two months.
