AN ACOCKS Green man who attacked and murdered his housemate by stabbing him in the stomach has been jailed.
Mohammed Ibrhim, of Warwick Road, lived at the address with victim Morteza Ajdani.
West Midlands Police said Morteza, aged 60, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics on February 1.
The force added that officers found three kitchen knives in the sink in the communal kitchen with the tap switched on and water running over them.
Ibrhim initially told officers Morteza grabbed the knife and stabbed himself however following an investigation CCTV showed Ibrhim had confronted Morteza in the kitchen before arming himself with a knife immediately before Morteza was stabbed in the bathroom.
Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court for trial, the 45-year-old changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced to 16 years and eight months in prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Alastair Orencas, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Ajdani’s family and everyone who knew him and has been affected by his loss.
“Our team carried out a full and thorough investigation into what happened that afternoon and thanks to their hard work were able to uncover Ibrhim’s attempt to cover up his crime, and find the CCTV that ultimately led us to determine the truth of what happened.
“He’s now behind bars for his actions and I hope his conviction eases some of the pain felt by Mr Ajdani’s family and friends.”
