A MAN has been charged with the murder of Giovanni Lewis, who died from multiple stab wounds to his chest in 2016.

Giovanni is believed to have been attacked in Kingshurst before presenting himself at Heartlands Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival on October 18.

Jammal Chase, aged 21, of no fixed address, has been sought after by officers for over a year in connection with the murder of Giovanni and handed himself into a local police station on March 23.

He will appear before Birmingham magistrates Court this morning (26 March) charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of an offensive weapon.

Giovanni’s family have been informed of the latest developments and continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Police continue to investigate and are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Paul Joyce from the Homicide Team, said: “I would appeal to anyone who holds any information on the whereabouts of where Jammal has been for the last 18 months to make contact with myself or the team on 101.”
