Man charged after hit-and-run on police car in Solihull

A MAN has been charged after a police car was involved in a hit-and-run in Solihull while responding to an emergency.

The alleged incident took place at the junction of Grove Lane and Lode Lane at around 11.30am yesterday (August 28).

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “The other car involved in the collision left the scene, but was later recovered.

“A man was located at a nearby property and arrested in connection with the incident.




“The two police officers in the car were taken to hospital as a precaution.”

An update today reads: “Christopher Williams, of Highwood Avenue, Solihull, has been charged with driving without due care and attention, failing to stop following a road accident, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.


“The 46-year-old is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (August 30).”
