AXE-wielding burglars attacked two men in their Earlswood home.
Police are hunting three men who broke into a house on Mill Lane at around 11.15pm yesterday (Monday).
A 55-year-old was attacked with an axe causing serious injuries to his head and shoulder and an 85-year-old was hit with an iron bar.
The burglars fled with silverware and a laptop.
The 55-year-old was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
Det sgt Collette O’Keefe said: “A thorough investigation has been launched to identify and locate the offenders and local residents may see an increased police presence in the area over the next few days.
“We are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious to come forward.”
