A SUSPECTED armed robber has been arrested following a spate of incidents across Solihull and Acocks Green.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to Solihull on Saturday, March 5, after a man, armed with a handgun, demanded money at F Hinds Jewellers, Morrisons and Robert Dyas between 4.30pm and 5pm.

The force said a small amount of cash was taken from a till at Robert Dyas, but nothing was stolen from the other two stores.

Police were alerted to incidents at Big Johns on Yardley Road and Select Express on Warwick Road both in Acocks Green at around 2am on Monday, March 7.

A gun was recovered from Big Johns.

West Midlands Police said: “Armed police responded immediately, and after reviewing CCTV from the incidents we believe the same man was responsible for all five incidents.”

A 45-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
