Man arrested on suspicion of wounding a pensioner in Solihull

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of wounding a pensioner in Solihull.

The alleged attack took place on Thursday evening (May 10) outside Touchwood shopping centre on Poplar Road.

A 70-year-old man sustained a head injury following an altercation and was taken to Heartlands Hospital for treatment.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Poplar Road, Solihull, following a reported altercation by the bus stop at around 5.30pm last night (Thursday, May 10).




“A 70-year-old man has been taken to hospital with a head injury.

“A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.


“Anyone with information is asked to call detective constable Adam Buzzard at Solihull Police on 101; quoting crime reference number 20SH/103701F/18.”

A West Midlands Ambulance service spokeswoman added: “We were called just before 6pm. One ambulance attended and we treated an elderly man who suffered a cut to his head.

“He was taken to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment.”
