A MAN has been arrested and several cars have been seized in efforts to tackle drug crime in Chelmsley Wood.

A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug offences.

Local officers have been listening to residents’ concerns about drug dealing in the area.

At a meeting with the community earlier this month, residents raised concerns of drug dealing and using.

West Midlands Police have stepped up patrols in the area that include officers in plain clothes and several vehicles have been seized that have been linked to drug dealing.

Sgt Ben Muddiman from the Chelmsley Wood neighbourhood team, said: “We understand the upset and worry this is causing the community and are committed to tackling people who are involved in drug supply and use in Chelmsley Wood.

“Information from members of the community can often be key to our success in arresting and convicting drug dealers. It can be used to support search warrants carried out where drugs are seized and destroyed.

“We would encourage anyone with information to report it to us online on Live Chat or by calling 101.”

Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
