Solihull Editorial 16th Oct, 2021   0

A SERIES of eight lunchtime concerts will be creating new notes of interest for classical music lovers in Solihull.

Featuring chamber works by Mozart and other leading composers, the concerts will be performed monthly at Shirley Methodist Church.

The first one is on Friday, October 29 starting at 1.10pm.

Performances will be given by the acclaimed and well-established Midland Chamber Players whose director and cellist Jean Gubbins said: “We are pleased to be bringing our concerts to Solihull and we feel Shirley Methodist Church will be the ideal venue.”

Jean spent the early part of her career as a cellist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and still teaches students at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoiore’s Junior School.

The opening concert will feature works by Mozart including a Quartet with a leading part for the Players’ pianist, Dinah Levine.

It will also include the ever popular string quartet, The American, by Antonin Dvorak.
