A LOVING wife is to host a charity ball in memory of her late husband for a second year running.

Susan Guilmant called on friends to help organise a charity ball to raise funds in aid of Solihull’s Marie Curie hospice where Darren was cared for before he died in March 2015.

Last year she raised £8,500 for the Marsh Lane hospice and she is hoping to tip the fundraising scales by raising £11.313 at her autumn themed ball on October 4.

Susan said: “The care at the Hospice was wonderful.

“I was able to stay over with Darren in a pop-up bed and that meant the so much to me because I was never able to do that when he was staying in hospital.

“‘I see the ball as Darren’s legacy and I want to make him proud.

“The care at the hospice brought great comfort to myself and Darren’s family and friends.

“I know how important it is that we raise as much money as possible so other families can get the same support and specialist care that Darren received.

“As soon as he arrived into the hospice the staff managed his pain and ensured he was only on necessary medication.

“It made the world of difference as he became calmer, more peaceful, chattier and the colour came back into his face.

“The staff were so reassuring and his friends and family could visit whenever they wanted. It felt like home.”

There will be a three-course meal, drinks reception and excellent entertainment and live music.

Tickets cost £50 for the ball being held at The Village Hotel on Dog Kennel Lane and are available by Susan on 07473 950184 or emailing [email protected].
