Love is on the menu for Shirley care home residents

CARE home residents in Shirley put on their best outfits ready for a date with loved ones this Valentine’s Day.

Fountains care home hosted private dining sessions at the home for residents who either live at the home or who visit there.

The rooms were decorated with rose petals and hearts to create a warm ambience and for those who chose to have the three-course love inspired menu in their rooms, a themed dining table was set up.

Joan, a resident at Fountains said: “How lovely that I got to enjoy Valentines with my husband and my son.

“It was so wonderful and everyone went to so much effort to make it happen.”

Resident John was able to surprise his wife Gloria with a single red rose after several were donated to the Stratford Road home by Flowers of Solihull for residents to hand out.

General manager, Sonia Tenniswood said: “Keeping our residents connected with their families has never been more important over the last couple of years due to the pandemic, so to be able to host a wonderful lunch for our couples, who are no longer able to live together because of differing needs, was truly special.”
