A FORMER doctors receptionist has had a Slam Transport lorry named in her honour.

Agnes Bell, who lives at Harper Fields Care Home in Balsall Common, was nominated by the care home after the trucking company said it wanted to honour local heroes.

The care home planned a surprise event for the 98-year-old and had the Agnes Bell truck to the care home for a big reveal.

The home prepared champagne and nibbles and took Agnes outside in time to see her truck arrive.

Hayley Wilkinson, general manager at Harper Fields said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Slam Transport, especially Nicky and Danny for making this happen.

“Agnes was overjoyed and loved the idea, we linked with her family virtually so they could share in the excitement.

“Agnes is a joy to be around she keeps us all young and happy.”

Agnes is a resident ambassador at the home and has covered the homes reception desk and supports the activities team.
