THE FIGHT for who is to become the UK’s next Prime Minister stopped off in Solihull when Liz Truss paid a visit to the borough.
The Foreign Secretary spoke with residents at Solihull Moors Football Club on Saturday, August 3, about her plans for the country.
She was joined on stage by Solihull MP, Julian Knight, who has been supporting Ms Truss in her campaign to become the leader of the Conservative party since she put her hat in the ring in June.
Mr Knight said: “It was great to welcome the Foreign Secretary to Solihull on Saturday to allow residents and members to hear the ambitious plans she has for the country.
“Liz Truss can be trusted to deliver on the priorities of people across Solihull.
“Liz has a proven track record of delivery in Government from striking post-Brexit trade deals, bringing billions into the UK economy, to imposing sanctions on Putin’s barbaric regime in the Kremlin. Given the cost of living crisis, and the fact we now face the highest tax burden for 70 years, now is the time to take the country back to a low tax and high skilled economy, and Liz has the experience to get this done through the Treasury.
“It was great to see residents and members asking Liz questions on Saturday and I am really excited about the future direction of the country under Liz Truss.”
