LEADER of the opposition Kemi Badenoch MP visited Knowle High Street last week ahead of the Solihull Council Elections.
The Conservative Party leader joined Saqib Bhatti MBE, MP for Meriden and Solihull East as they took a tour of the high street alongside council leader Coun Karen Grinsell.
They visited serval independent businesses including Caroline Creba Jewellery, Chocolate Place and Eric Lyons butchers, the latter at which they made a pie donning the slogan “Save our High Streets.”
Mr Bhatti said: “It was fantastic to welcome Mrs Badenoch to Knowle, where I was proud to share the brilliant local independent businesses we have in Meriden and Solihull East.
“The three independent businesses we visited on Knowle High Street are the tip of the iceberg that our thriving local economy has to offer.
“Yet, nonsensical tax hikes and soaring energy costs seek to threaten the resilience and prosperity of the businesses that are the backbone of our high streets.
“It could not be clearer. Only the Conservatives are serious about supercharging the local economy and providing better services to residents across Solihull.”
