CAMPAIGNERS have been left devastated after plans to sell off a former depot have been confirmed.

Kingshurst residents have been calling on Solihull Council to protect the site on Clopton Crescent and develop it for the community.

However auctioneer Bond Wolfe have revealed the 1.2-acre plot of land is set to go under the hammer next month.

Following the Council’s notice of sale of the land residents banded together in a bid to save the area.

In July campaigner, Sarah Spencer, handed in a petition of more than 350 signatures to Solihull Council.

She said: “We are gutted that the sale is going ahead.

“We are not going to give up hope on creating something of value for the community.”

The freehold land and vacant former parks depot will have a guide price of £139,000+ in a live-streamed auction on September 11.

Bond Wolfe say the land could be redeveloped subject to planning permission.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: “The former parks depot currently includes a single storey brick building that is boarded up, along with associated land on a relatively rectangular plot that extends to approximately 1.2 acres.

“The land is accessed via a driveway off Clopton Crescent with ample off-road parking.

“We expect this lot to attract considerable attention from developers and investors from across the UK.”

The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
