RAPPER Lady Leshurr helped tidy up Elmdon Park during a litter pick.

She, alongside 42 employees from McDonald’s in Solihull, Olton, Shirley and across Birmingham collected 20 bags of litter as part of the restaurants Keep it Clean campaign.

Lady Leshurr showed up to support her hometown, getting stuck in by clearing litter from the streets, near where she originally learned how to make music, at a youth club across the road from her home in Solihull.

The event in Solihull followed a week of rallying from Lady Leshurr and the McDonald’s restaurant teams, encouraging locals to get involved, either through organised events or with friends and family.

McDonald’s franchisee Douglas Wright, who owns and operates 21 restaurants across the Midlands, said: “It was fantastic to see Lady Leshurr back in her hometown, doing her bit to keep the city looking beautiful.

“I’m passionate about tackling the problem of litter in Birmingham, especially in the areas local to my restaurants.

“My teams go on daily litter-picking walks and we organise regular litter picks as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our streets clean and tidy.”

This event was just one out of 91 across the UK, marking McDonald’s biggest ever nationwide litter pick, in which over 150 restaurants got involved.

The mammoth week-long event saw over 1,300 volunteers take part, including reality TV stars, sporting legends, radio presenters and music artists, collecting over 1,000 bags of litter across the country.
