Knowle pupils speak to endurance blind athlete

Sarah Mason 5th Dec, 2017

A BLIND motivational speaker and endurance athlete visited a Knowle school to talk about his experiences.

Year one pupils from Knowle Church of England Primary Academy met with Dave Heeley to help them on their journey as they explore the topic of senses this term.

He spoke to the children about what life is like without one of your senses and the work of his dog, Seamus.

Dave is the only blind person to have run seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.

He also is the only blind person to have run and cycled from John O’Groats to Lands’ End – which is the equivalent of ten marathons in ten days.

Principal at Knowle Academy, Miss Godsall says: “We are so grateful to Brad and the team from Specsavers in Solihull for sponsoring Dave’s visit.

“The students learnt so much from his talk and his message is a very important one.”
