Knowle comes together to mark 80th anniversary of VE Day

KNOWLE is set to be buzzing with celebration as residents come together to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

High Street will become a hive of entertainment and activities on Saturday (May 10) with live performances from the Knowle’s own Warwickshire Dance Academy, 1940s vocals of Amy Price, and an open mic showcasing local stars Emily McCarthy, Garfield Mayor, Hannah Hamer, Lily Hughes, Freddie Hobbis, and El Sam, alongside DJ sets from DJ Diego.

From 11am until 5pm there will be an artisan market featuring local producers and makers, from Spirit of Birmingham whiskey to fine olive oils, vinegars, jewellery, prints, crafts, and handmade soaps and candles

Artist Jackie Roberts, showcasing iconic local landmarks. Items for sale include tote bags, coasters, framed prints, keyrings, fridge magnets, and Christmas cards, perfect mementos of this special day.

Community Groups including The Knowle Society, Knowle, Dorridge, and Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Forum, 2nd Monkspath Scouts, Knowle Girl Guides, Solihull and District Soroptimists International, Solihull Rural Police, Citizens Advice, The Old Sil’s and Knowle Party in the Park will be on hand.

Vintage enthusiasts can admire Steve Chaplin’s historic military vehicles, jeeps, and a classic MG Midget on display.




There will also be a fun and friendly Dog Show with entries open for categories such as Cutest Puppy, Prettiest Girl, Most Handsome Boy, Golden Oldie, and Best in Show.

Entry is just £3, with proceeds supporting Wythall Animal Sanctuary.


Knowle High Street and part of Kenilworth Road (near the church) will be closed from 8am until 8pm.

All public car parks will remain open, with marshals on hand to assist with access.
