AS THE FESTIVE season begins to rumble into action, the Midland Charities Association Christmas Card Shop in Knowle Library has opened its doors.
Now in its 22nd year the shop supports over 20 human relief charities with over 99% of money taken from the sale of Christmas Cards being returned to the charities.
This year there will be two new cards depicting scenes of Knowle painted by local artist Mike Humphreys.
The cards were commissioned by the Knowle Society for the benefit of Friends of Solihull Hospital, specifically, for equipment in the Dialysis Department.
There is also a range of seasonal merchandise, including advent calendars, wrapping paper and gift bag requirements. and a range of gifts and stocking fillers.
The shop, which is staffed by a team of volunteers, raised almost £15,000 last year thanks to the support of its ‘many loyal customers’.
As the ‘sister’ shop in Solihull Central Library is again unable to open this year, the organisers hope to attract customers who would normally have bought their charity cards there.
The shop will be open until Saturday, December 17 during normal library hours:
Monday, Tuesday and Friday – 10am to 5pm, Thursday – 10am to 6pm and Saturday – 10am to 3pm.
