PLANS to close Solihull Railway ticket office has been scrapped.
Transport Secretary Mark Harper said the government had asked train operators to withdraw their proposals across the country because they failed to meet high passenger standards.
The news has been applauded by Solihull MP, Julian Knight, who lobbied the Transport Secretary with a heartfelt letter in July.
Mr Knight said: “I am delighted that the government has heeded our concerns and reversed its plan to close Ticket Offices, including our own in Solihull.
“This decision is a testament to the power of community action and the unwavering dedication of our constituents who depend on these services.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our efforts. This is a triumph for our community, ensuring access to accessible and convenient transportation options.”
