THE ANXIOUS wait for A-Level and BTEC students across Solihull when they received their results and got to see if all their hard work had paid off.
Pupils discovered if they had got the grades they needed to move onto university, apprentices or other training and employment.
There were celebrations at Solihull Sixth Form College where A level, BTEC and Childcare courses results were revealed.
The College saw a more than 98 per cent pass rate at A level and 99.9 per cent at BTEC, as well as more than 75 per cent of grades A*-C at A level and 96 per cent of BTEC grades at Merit or above.
Dr Martin Sullivan, principal of the College, said: “I am very proud of all our learners and staff members for the hard work that went into achieving this success.
“The majority of our young people are progressing onto university, and whatever their next challenge – higher education, apprenticeship or employment – we wish them the best of luck and are delighted we were able to help them achieve the grades needed to forge a successful future career.”
Solihull School revealed it had an outstanding year with 79 per cent of all grades at A* to B, 50 per cent of all grades at A* to A, and 45 students achieving three or more A* to A grades.
The independent school said 96 per cent of all students obtained a place at their chosen university.
Charles Fillingham, executive headmaster of the school, said: “This is an exceptional set of results from a fabulous group of young people who have been incredibly well supported by our talented and dedicated staff body.
“We wish all 166 students well as they embark on their next chapter, whether at university, engaging in an apprenticeship, enjoying a GAP year or entering the world of work.”
WMG Academy Solihull celebrated what it called ‘another year of outstanding destinations for all students in Year 13.’
WMG Academy chief executive, Stewart Tait, said: “I am delighted that students at the WMG Academies have had their commitment and endeavours rewarded with impressive examination results that will allow them to progress to the next stage of their journey, be that University, Apprenticeships or direct employment.
“Whilst it is always pleasing to report year on year improvements in results, this year has seen a significant increase in the highest grades gained in A Levels (A*-B) and in Technical Qualifications at Distinction * and Distinction. In our areas of specialism, over a third of students achieved the very highest grades. Once again, there is a very impressive range of destinations that have been secured by Year 13 students that they and their Teachers and parents should be rightly proud of.”
