JLR plant to provide free flu jabs

Solihull Editorial 19th Oct, 2022   0

JAGUAR Land Rover’s Solihull plant opened its doors to NHS staff and an independent provider (Flu Xpress) to deliver COVID vaccinations to eligible staff and offer free flu jabs to all its staff.

This helped approximately 900 people boost their protection from seasonal illness this winter, when COVID and flu will once again pose a severe risk to those who are vulnerable within our communities.

Coun Dicicco, cabinet member for health said: “It’s great to see a global business put the health and wellbeing of its staff first and shows how collaboration between the public and private sector can be done to help with this.

“I know that the Council and NHS colleagues are keen to engage with our other businesses in Solihull to see if they would also like to access these critically important jabs easier for their own workforces.

“It makes sense to protect your staff and in turn protect your business. I therefore hope business leaders look at this example and feel inspired to do the same and take up the offer.”

Lisa Stalley-Green, deputy chair of Solihull Health and Wellbeing Board and deputy chief executive of NHS Birmingham and Solihull, said: “I’m proud to work with our system partners and local businesses to look after the health and wellbeing of our population.

“We’re expecting high levels of flu and COVID-19 this winter, so it is important that we take the necessary steps to ensure we’re protecting our families, ourselves and each other by getting the flu jab and the COVID-19 vaccine, and I’d strongly urge you to take up the offer if you’re eligible.

“I’d also like to encourage all parents to check that their children’s vaccinations are up to date. If they’re not, please contact your GP practice who will be able to offer your children catch-up vaccination offers.”

Dr Steve Iley, chief medical officer at Jaguar Land Rover, said: “Looking after our colleagues’ wellbeing helps them, their families and ultimately the business. Jaguar Land Rover is pleased to continue to lead and show how successful collaboration between business and the public sector can be.”
