Jason beats coronavirus to boost limbless child charity Reach

Solihull Editorial 9th Oct, 2020   0

TORRENTIAL downpours – and more – didn’t stop Jason Smith from completing his Virtual London Marathon when he literally flew the flag for the limbless child charity Reach.

Jason, who ran around Solihull, not only got drenched but due to a glitch in the London Marathon app actually ran more than 27 miles.

Not only that but he did it just two weeks after beating coronavirus.

But there were smiles at the Sheldon home he shares with his fiancee Tracey as his two grand daughters and Tracey’s nephews held a finishing line for him to cross.

Even better he raised over £500 for Reach.

“People were amazing,” said Tracey, who cycled the last three miles with him clutching a bucket for Reach.

“As we went down Lode Lane drivers were tooting their horns and cheering him on.

“One man drove past, turned around, and dropped £10 into my bucket.

“The community spirit was wonderful.”
