BOOKWORMS can travel back in time and find out what Jane Austen likely got up to in her free time.

Author Sarah Jane Downing is set to bring her latest work Pastimes and Pleasures in the Time of Jane Austen to life at Astley Book Farm in Bedworth on April 23.

Sarah Jane said: “It offers insights into the birth of women’s fashion magazines, engagement with regency literature, art and theatre and the enjoyment of the natural environment that frame the context for Austen’s literature.

“Pastimes and Pleasures also explores the concerns of life on the Home Front during the Napoleonic Wars including finding and losing love.

“Pastimes and Pleasures takes in some of the most fashionable, popular, and even disreputable pursuits and preoccupations of the regency including those enjoyed by Jane’s characters.”

Tickets cost from £5 and are available from Astley Book Farm or online at www.astleybookfarm.com.
