THERE were smiles all round when Solihull Heart Support Group (SHSG) were handed a generous donation.

The group were handed a whopping £1,000 from kind-hearted employees at Jaguar Land Rover who donate part of their salary and then decide which charity to give the money to.

Mike Parsons, Secretary, at SHSG said: “As with most voluntary organisations monetary donations can become vital and we are extremely grateful to the employees of JLR who are responsible for charitable donations and have chosen to help us on this occasion.”

The group was set up over 20 years ago Chairman Mike Lines and his wife Tricia when they realised that there are no follow up activities for cardiac patients after the medical processes have all been completed.

SHSG is made up of current and former heart patients who aim to improve the quality of life for themselves, fellow heart patients and their families by sharing experiences and improving awareness and understanding of heart conditions.

The group run eight exercise groups including a Tai Chi session each week which are supervised by Instructors qualified to British Association for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation standards, plus a monthly speaker meeting and organised walks.

Sharon Gray, Secretary of the Charity Committee at JLR Solihull said: “We are delighted to make this donation to the Solihull Heart Support Group.

“Being the largest employer in the local area, we pride ourselves in supporting the local community through charity, voluntary and educational projects.”
