Investigation launched after woman's body discovered in Solihull canal

THE BODY of a woman has been discovered in the Stratford Canal on Saturday (May 19).

A dog walker made the find in the Stratford Canal, off Solihull Lodge High Street, at around 8am.

Police were treating the death as “unexplained” and the body had yet to be formally identified.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “The body of a woman was found in the Stratford Canal off Solihull Lodge High Street on Saturday.

“Officers were called by a dog-walker who spotted the body just after 8am.

“The woman is yet to be identified and the death is being currently being treated as unexplained.

“A small cordon remains in place while emergency services remain at the scene.

“An investigation is currently underway and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.”
