Investigation launched after two reported BB gun incidents in Shirley

A POLICE investigation has been launched following reports that two people were hit with pellets that were fired from a BB gun in Shirley.

West Midlands Police say on Sunday (April 21) at around 4pm, a man was hit by a pellet from a BB gun on Haslucks Green Road.

And on Monday at around 8pm on Green Lane, a second incident was reported.

In both incidents a BB gun was believed to have been discharged from a vehicle.

Sergeant Adrian Mills, from the Shirley Neighbourhood Team, said: “Whilst it is not illegal to own a BB gun, firing one at a person as well as carrying one in public to cause alarm and distress, is.

“CCTV enquiries are underway and we have spoken to a number of witnesses. We have stepped up both plain clothed and uniformed patrols in and around the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
