Inventor Ray in desperate plea for return of stolen scooter

Solihull Editorial 25th Mar, 2022   0

SOLIHULL character Ray Dyke is appealing for the return of his mobility scooter.

The two-wheeled electric scooter was stolen from outside Hingleys Chemist in Hobs Moat last Saturday, March 12 at around 10am.

“The scooter looks like a four wheeler but has just the two wheels,” said Ray, now aged 86.

“It’s the cat’s whiskers but pretty heavy to push and I’m sure someone must have seen them taking it away.

“I’d taken the key with me to go to the chemist too – I can only think the people who took it were trying to be as daft as me.”

Ray has been a fixture in Solihull for decades.

From selling his cheese and onion cobs to his madcap inventions he’s also been the handyman people turn to in an emergency.

He would dearly love to have his mobility scooter back – if anyone can help locate it or is a witness to its theft, they can contact him on 07765 584095.
