A GROUP of intrepid climbers tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for charity – raising almost £2000.

Sydney Mitchell employees along with friends raised much-needed cash for Midlands charities the Buddy Bag Foundation and Age UK Solihull.

The Peaky Climbers were Hayley-Jo Lockley, Emma-Louise Hewitt and Gemma Parker, Chloe Bolton from Sydney Mitchell and two friends, Jennifer Robinson and Kirsty O’Reilly.

The team of six took off in the early hours of Saturday morning from Chapel Le Dale with a target of 12 hours to beat.

They completed their goal in 11 hours 45 minutes, overcoming a series of hurdles, including broken laces, sheep and cows on route and a water stop with no water.

Emma-Louise said: “The hills were a lot higher and steeper than they looked, at points we had to clamber on all fours to reach the summit. We are proud of all the team and thank our sponsors very much, both at work as well as family and friends, for their generous support. It is a great feeling to be able to help two worthy Midlands Charities.”

Sydney Mitchell Senior Partner Karen Moores added: “What an achievement by all. It is great to see so much support for two local charities and what a fantastic amount raised.”

Founder of the Buddy Bag Foundation Karen Williams said: “Thank you to all in the Sydney Mitchell team for their outstanding achievement and well done for achieving such a great goal.

“We would not be able to function without the generous support from our sponsors and fundraisers.”

Fundraising manager for Age UK Solihull Lorraine Hart said: “We are so grateful to the team at Sydney Mitchell for their fantastic achievement. We are proud to be able to help our older people in Solihull and Age UK Solihull would not be able to do this without the outstanding support of our fundraisers in the local community.”
