A WEEK-LONG sporting event dedicated to celebrating inclusivity in Solihull is under way.
The free community event, called the ‘Include Me Games’, will see people with disabilities and long-term health conditions take part in a range of fun, healthy activities runs until Sunday (August 25).
Held annually, the event is hosted by leading leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Solihull Council, with the goal of ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in exercise.
All sessions taking place throughout the week have been adapted and designed to suit the needs and preferences of people with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
From quiet swims and walking tennis to archery, badminton and pickleball, there is something on offer for all ages, interests and abilities. Gym access will also be available throughout the week.
The participating sites are Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and North Solihull Sports Centre. Both members and non-members are welcome to the event.
Wayne Desmond, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “The Include Me Games encapsulate our commitment to creating a community where everyone feels valued and empowered.
“We are really focused on breaking down barriers in physical activity and the event aims to showcase our support and inclusive offering within our local community. It’s set to be a brilliant week and we hope to see you there.”
Councillor Tony Dicicco, Solihull Council’s cabinet member for Public Health, added: “At the Include Me Games, there really will be something for everyone.
“There’s a fantastic range of sessions available, and I’d really encourage local residents to take a look at the website to find out more.”
