Hot cuppa ready and waiting for emergency workers in Shirley

Solihull Editorial 28th Apr, 2024   0

A HOT brew is waiting to welcome emergency responders and NHS workers at Solihull Retirement Village.

The Shirley retirement home is offering free hot and cold soft drinks to express gratitude and support for the tireless efforts to those who selflessly serve their communities and to welcome more community heroes to the village.

The free drinks are offer open seven days a week at the Haslucks Green Road site with no booking required from 9.30am and 5.30pm.

One of those benefitting and visiting the village for a hot drink was nurse Laura Standing from the local hospital trust.

She said: “It has been a lovely treat picking up a nice cup of free coffee after a long shift and taking a moment to unwind.

“Solihull Village has a beautiful bistro, and this is a very thoughtful and welcome idea. Thank you.”

Supporting NHS workers and the wider community remains at the forefront for ExtraCare, the charity who operate the village.

Solihull Village’s lifestyle manager, Diane Rooney said: “We know the value of saying thank you to those who go above and beyond to keep us safe in our hours of need.

“As a charity we know a thing or two about the importance of community and looking out for one another and we hope to provide a small but meaningful token of appreciation to those who dedicate their lives to safeguarding others.”

To benefit from the offer of free refreshments, NHS workers will need to show a valid ID, and emergency responders will need to be on shift and in uniform.
