THE SPOTLIGHT has been shone on children’s mental heath at Cockshut Hill School.
Pupils have taken part in a range of activities to mark Children’s Mental Health Week 2026, which runs from February 9 to 15.
This year’s theme, This is My Place, focuses on helping children and young people feel a sense of belonging.
The initiative encourages schools, families, and communities to reflect on the environments around children and how these can support positive mental health, inclusion, and self-acceptance.
Cockshut Hill pupils have taken part in activities designed to help them explore what belonging means to them, celebrate individuality, and understand the importance of mental wellbeing.
Children’s Mental Health Week was launched in 2015 to give children and young people a voice and raise awareness of the importance of mental health from an early age.
Jody Clarke, principal at Cockshut Hill, said: “Mental health and wellbeing are central to a young person’s development, and initiatives like Children’s Mental Health Week give schools the opportunity to celebrate individuality, build a sense of belonging, and ensure every young person knows they are not alone.”
