A NONAGENARIAN rekindled her love for horses with a trip back to the stables.
Marjorie Makepeace was an avid horse rider in her youth and was dreamed to see the beautiful animals up close again.
When staff Blossomfield Grange, on Worcester Way found out about their resident’s wish, they were determined to make turn it into reality.
Marjorie loved horses from a young age, and her uncle had horses on his farm in Lichfield.
When she was younger, Marjorie would often volunteer at a local stable in Solihull where she helped out in exchange for lessons. It was here that Marjorie first learned to ride horses, which she continued to do until the age of 60.
To help the 90-year-old fulfil her wish, the team organised a visit to Cottage Farm Stables, in Solihull.
At the stables, Marjorie was able to feed the horses apples and carrots.
One horse in particular, Darcy, took an instant shine to Marjorie, and the two enjoyed a walk around the stable.
Marjorie was able to watch horse-riding lessons too, something which brought back fond memories.
Marjorie said: “I had the best time at the stables, and I can’t thank everyone enough for arranging the trip. So many happy memories came flooding back to me, it was lovely.”
