CHARITIES and community groups across the borough were given extra helping hands thanks to a group of volunteers.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes Mercia completed 62 total days of volunteering in 2025.
The Solihull-based housebuilder stepped in to support a variety of charities and community groups in the areas in which it builds new homes.
Barratt Redrow, the parent company of Barratt and David Wilson Homes, gives each employee two days to be used for volunteering each year.
And staff have said they plan to keep this going through 2026.
Among the causes supported was the leading developer’s charity of the year, Help Harry Help Others, for which a charity dinner was arranged.
With 242 people in attendance, there were talks from Georgie Moseley, who founded the charity, and former footballer, Neil Ruddock, as well as other activities.
In total, the evening raised a total of £37,410.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes employees also took part in a range of different activities throughout the year.
As well assisting with charitable and environmental projects, assisting wildlife is high on the list of priorities for Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
At Knowle Donkey Sanctuary, volunteers were on hand to help keep the fields clean, groom the donkeys, paint the sheds, pick up litter and carry out other helpful tasks.
Other groups that also received support in 2025 were St Basil’s in Birmingham, Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child in Coventry and Lickey Hills Country Park in Rednal.
Helen Lewis, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “Every year, we are inspired by the commitment of our colleagues to using their volunteering days to make a difference for local charities and community groups, and the funding that has been raised is a magnificent achievement.
“In 2025, we were proud to have contributed 62 days of volunteering to the local communities, a seven per cent increase from our efforts last year, and we’re hopeful to see this number grow in 2026.”
