SILHILLIANS with an interest in dementia are being invited to the Marie Curie Hospice.

To mark Dementia Action Week (May 13 to 19) the Marsh Lane hospice will host a drop in session with staff on hand from Marie Curie, Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK and Carers Trust Solihull.

From 10am to 3pm on Wednesday (May 15) patients and loved ones can find out about the different types of dementia, support on how to manage the symptoms of dementia and what support is out there for those caring for someone with dementia.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end of life charity and care for people with any illness they are likely to die from including Alzheimer’s (and other forms of dementia), heart, liver, kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s, and advanced cancer.

Hannah Nolan, community engagement manager at Solihull’s Marie Curie Hospice, said: “During Dementia Action Week we want to reach more people to let them know about the support available to them and highlight the amazing work Marie Curie and other organisations are doing to support people living with this condition.

“As well as our drop-in event, there will also be an information stand in the reception of our hospice all week with plenty of free take away resources.”
