HELP IS at hand to help Silhillians plan ahead for later life and make decisions early.
Drop-in events are set to take place in Shirley and Chelmsley Wood, where people can talk to local experts including teams from the Council, NHS, Age UK Solihull, and Carers Trust Solihull.
The events take place on June 14 at The Bridge on Stratford Road in Shirley from 10am until 1pm and on June 28 at The Onward Club on Helmswood Drive in Chelmsley Wood from 10am until 1pm.
Councillor Tony Dicicco, cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health, explains why the Council has organised the events. “Everyone needs to plan and prepare for later life, no matter what our circumstances are now. But it’s a topic many of us ignore as we get older.”
“We want to help prevent people from facing difficult situations and making decisions about later life at a time of crisis.
“Planning for the future can help make sure our homes, our finances and our lifestyles support us to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible. Talking about ‘what happens if…’ can help you put in place things that will make life easier in the future.
“I’d strongly encourage you to drop in and find out what could help your own situation or how you could support parents or older family members.
“Learn how to make your home more accessible and how technology can help, about different kinds of accommodation or what to do if you, or a loved one, needs care in the future.”
