RAIN failed to dampen spirits as students had a celebratory open-top bus tour through Shirley to celebrate the end of their school years.

The year 11 students from Hazel Oak School jumped aboard two vintage double decker buses and waved at loved ones who lined the route thanks to Wythall Transport Museum.

James Summerville, assistant head at Hazel Oak School said: “A number of our students are bus enthusiasts so this was extra special for them”

Denis Chick, from Wythall Transport Museum, said: “We were very pleased to help and it was a pleasure to see the smiling faces and the enjoyment.

Usually the pupils have an end of year prom at Hogarths Hotel where students would often arrive in style but due to current Covid restrictions this was unable to take place.
