OPINIONS are being sought on plans to build up to 330 new homes in Hockley Heath.
Taylor Wimpey is calling on residents and business in the village to have their say on a potential an outline planning application for hundreds of home and open spaces on land south of Aylesbury Road.
It said all of the homes will be low carbon, incorporating air source heat pumps, solar panels and EV charging points. And up to half of the new homes will be affordable, including homes for social rent and shared ownership properties aimed at first time buyers.
Developers added there will be the provision of high-quality green public open spaces, including children’s play areas and a community garden or orchard.
The site for the proposed development forms part of a Strategic Growth Location (SGL) identified as a preferred option for the delivery of new homes in the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan.
If a planning application is approved, it is expected that the development would provide significant financial contributions to support local infrastructure.
Given the unique cross-boundary location – with the site in Warwick District, but Hockley Heath village located in Solihull – Taylor Wimpey says it will work with both local authorities to ensure infrastructure investment is directed where it is needed and where residents will feel the benefit.
Stephen Swinscoe, strategic land regional director at Taylor Wimpey, said: “We are pleased to have launched our community consultation for new homes and extensive green public open space in Hockley Heath.
“We welcome feedback from local people to help shape our emerging plans either through our consultation website or by coming along to our exhibition at the King George Memorial Hall. All comments received will be considered as we prepare an outline planning application.
“We recognise that infrastructure investment is an important consideration. A development of this scale will generate a multi-million pound package of investment and we are committed to working with both local authorities to ensure this is directed where it’s needed most.
“We are keen to hear from local people about their priorities for infrastructure improvements, including transport links, community facilities and essential services.
“Our approach will be community-led, ensuring that local infrastructure can support new development and that residents benefit from enhanced connectivity, improved amenities and the facilities that matter most to them.”
The housebuilder has launched a consultation website here where people can find out more about the plans and provide their feedback until midnight on October 5.
A drop-in exhibition at King George Memorial Hall on Stratford Road in Hockley Heath will be held from 2pm until 6.30pm on September 25 to give people the opportunity to view the proposals, talk to the project team and ask questions.
