Hall Green primary school welcomes new head

A HALL Green primary school has welcomed a new headteacher.

Alex Harris has taken over the reigns at Robin Hood Academy after sitting as a governor at the school since 2019.

Alex has worked in schools across the Midlands as a leader and history teacher, including at Ark Boulton in Sparkhill.

Alex said: “I am extremely proud and privileged to take on the position of headteacher at Robin Hood Academy.

“During my time as Governor I really enjoyed working with the team and using my expertise to support the school, so when the position of headteacher became available I was very keen to apply.

“Primary education is where you make the biggest difference in a child’s education, and I will be working with the school’s fantastic team of staff to make a positive impact on the lives of young people from across the area.

“I will also be looking to maintain the excellent reputation of the school and continue to support its innovative, inspiring and progressive education practices.

“It has been my pleasure to start meeting members of the community and I already feel incredibly supported.”

He also joined Teach First, a charity that supports teachers and leaders, in a role which saw him deliver training to both new and experienced teachers and senior leadership teams from both primary and secondary school settings.

Steve Taylor, the chief executive at Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust, which oversees the running of the school, said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Alex as our new headteacher at Robin Hood Academy.

“Having an extensive knowledge of both primary and secondary education as well as teacher training means that he has a truly unique skillset for the position.

“Being a former Governor also means that he already has a strong knowledge of the school, and I look forward to working with him going forward.”
