THE DOORS are set to open on Saturday at The Church of the Ascension in Hall Green as part of Birmingham Heritage week.
From 11am until 3pm there will be information and guides about the building and the church community past and present.
The School Road Church, originally named Job Marston’s Chapel, was built in the Queen Anne style of architecture and consecrated in 1704.
The transepts and chancel were added in the 1860s to give the building its overall cruciform (cross shape).
Reverend Nejib Boumenjel, vicar said: “We love to welcome visitors to our historic church which has served the community here in Hall Green for over 300 years.
“Everyone is welcome, whether you have never visited before, are a regular visitor or have a past connection with the Church.”
Entry is free but there is a charge for refreshments which will be in the hall.
