A HALL Green church is set to open its doors this weekend as part of Birmingham Heritage week.
The Church of the Ascension was consecrated in 1704 and it is an example of a Queen Anne style Church.
The transepts and chancel were added to the School Road Church in the 1860s to give the building its overall cruciform (cross shape) and it is still a place of active Christian worship to this day.
From 11am to 3pm on Saturday, September 17, volunteers will be on hand to show visitors around the church and tell them about its history, free of charge.
There will also be a chance to sign the book of condolence for The Queen.
Vicar, Reverend Nejib Boumenjel, said: “We love to welcome visitors to our historic church which has served the community here in Hall Green for over 300 years.
“Everyone is welcome, whether you have never visited before, are a regular visitor or have a past connection with the Church.”
